Understanding the Research Behind Stambhanakaraka Yoga

Published Clinical Study

Researchers: Prasad V. Kulkarni and Harimohan Chandola
Journal: AYU, 2013; Volume 34, Issue 1, pages 42–48

What Did the Study Investigate?

The study evaluated the traditional formulation containing:

  • Akarkara — an herb used in traditional Ayurvedic preparations.
  • Tulsi seeds — a botanical ingredient with a history of traditional use.
  • Mishri — crystallised sugar used as an ingredient in the formulation.

The research involved two groups of participants over a period of two months. One group received Stambhanakaraka Yoga with psychological counselling, while the comparison group received a placebo with counselling.

Results Reported in the Study

The researchers reported improvements in several measured outcomes in the group receiving Stambhanakaraka Yoga alongside counselling.

  • Intravaginal ejaculatory latency time (IELT): 50.64% improvement reported.
  • Voluntary control: 56.17% improvement reported.
  • Patient satisfaction: 59.78% improvement reported.
  • Partner satisfaction: 38.46% improvement reported.
  • Performance anxiety: 42.52% improvement reported.

The placebo group also showed improvements, although the reported changes were generally smaller across these measures.

These percentages are the outcomes reported by the study authors. They should not be interpreted as guaranteed results for every individual or as proven outcomes for every product containing similar ingredients.

The Research Behind Vajrabal

At BALANATH, we value the connection between traditional Ayurvedic ingredients and published scientific literature. Vajrabal features Akarkara, Tulsi seeds and Mishri, ingredients that are also discussed in the published research on Stambhanakaraka Yoga.

This study provides research context for the traditional formulation and its ingredients. However, the published research evaluated Stambhanakaraka Yoga together with counselling; it did not directly evaluate the branded Vajrabal product. Further product-specific research would be needed to establish Vajrabal’s own clinical effectiveness.

Important Research Note

The study involved a limited number of participants and lasted two months. Both groups received counselling, which is an important part of interpreting the results. The findings are promising within the context of the study but should not be taken as definitive proof of efficacy or as a guarantee of individual outcomes.
